Hotel Description Map of Location

There was only one light working in the room. This was reported and upon our return later that day was already sorted out. So no complaints. Excellent location... - Stewart from DONCASTER, UNITED KINGDOM (more)

Sitting atop the Charing Cross station on The Strand, the Thistle Charing Cross is perhaps London's most central hotel. The River Thames is just a hundred meters away, and it's an easy walk to a plethora of other attractions and must-see sights. Trafalgar Square, the National Gallery, Soho, and the London Eye are all within a kilometer of the hotel. Guests will never feel too far from home, even after a couple drinks in the hopping nightlife of Soho.

A marble-floored lobby welcomes guests behind a large wood-paneled desk, then it's up the wide staircase to one of the 239 guest rooms. There are two styles of decor: traditional, with dark wood furnishings and floral fabrics, or contemporary, with Art Deco lamps and light wood furnishings. Amenities include air conditioning, mini-bar, wireless Internet access, in-room safe, cable television, and tea and coffee maker. Bathrooms have heated towel rails and designer toiletries.

The 24-hour front desk has a multilingual staff who take orders for room service at any hour and can give a wake-up call if guests need it. For business travelers, there is a business center and meeting rooms with the latest audio-visual equipment. An extensive breakfast menu is offered at the Betjeman Room, which has red marble pillars and an opulent domed ceiling. The Strand Lounge offers some light food and afternoon tea. The Strand Terrace, with its intricate chandelier, offers an intimate place to have lunch and dinner with views of Trafalgar Square and the Strand. For a cocktail or cigar, there is the Strand Bar, which is reminiscent of an eighteenth-century club.

There was only one light working in the room. This was reported and upon our return later that day was already sorted out. So no complaints. Excellent location if one wants to be able to enjoy the pleasures of London without worrying at the end of the day how far it is to get to the hotel when one is so exhausted. Everything is within walking distance and if not then the choice of tube stations is excellent.
