Situated directly on Russell Square, this large, lavish, Victorian luxury hotel recently underwent a complete renovation, restoring it to the grandeur of the age in which it was built. The gilded lobby has a huge mosaic floor that was uncovered and restored after being covered for years due to damage it sustained during World War II. The 373 variously sized rooms are equally as ornamented with period features, lush furnishings, soundproofing, and elegant muted-tone design details. The room was clean and fully provisioned with towels and coffees. Elevators worked and were not overcrowded. Breakfast was good with reasonably prompt service.

We were given really poor quality rooms, unrefurbished and had to argue twice just to have a proper room. Usually happens when we book via internet sites.
