Winston Churchill's Britain at War Experience - London Hotels .com

Britain at War

This is your chance to feel like a Londoner during the famous German raids. The Britain at War Experience is yet another museum about the World War II. It talks about life in Britain, when Germans bombed Southwark and destroyed prime London docks and warehouses around London Bridge.

Britain at War Experience uses original documents, artifacts and special effects to show what life was really like during the second world war.

Visitors can go back into time with the help of special effects that recreate the sounds and smells of the Blitz (German raids), including reconstructions of life in an air-raid shelter and the aftermath of a bombing raid.  There is also a dance hall, with a 1940's atmosphere complete with the sounds of popular tunes and radio broadcasts.

The museum has memorabilia, including extracts from Churchill's speeches, war-time posters, magazine covers and newspaper cuttings. War-time toys and clothes are also on display.

Feel free to enter the BBC studio and listen to the various war speeches by Churchill, Chamberlain, Roosevelt and Hitler. Experience the noise of an air raid overhead, hear ticking bombs, see real war time bombs. Get into a feel of shopping at the little shops of Southwark, with the fear of a German raid.

If you like the neighborhood, stay at the Apex City Of London Hotel, which has a sauna, in-house restaurants and modish decor.
