The Science Museum on Exhibition Road, South Kensington, is part of the National Museum of Science and Industry. It is not possible for visitors to see every thing here in a day, however if you are a real science buff you may want to schedule several days for viewing.

At the Science Museum, discover a magnificent collection of machines and hardward, which boasts a collection of over 300,000 items. Visitors can view the Stephenson's Rocket; Puffing Billy, an early locomotive; the first jet engine; and James Watson's model of DNA. The IMAX 3D  Cinema, allows for visitors to watch 3D science and nature documentaries.

The museum's ground floor is dominated by locomotives, steam engines and cars apart from displays on fire-fighting and space exploration.  Exhibitions on telecommunications, gas and food, iron and steel are housed on the first floor. On the second floor, galleries on nuclear power, printing and computing can be found. The third floor features the new Flight Gallery, along with exhibitions on photography, optics and electricity, while the smaller fourth and fifth floors house the medical galleries.

And guess what? Visitors can spend the night here free by taking part of the museum's Science Night which is an all-night extravaganza with a scientific twist. The event if for children between the ages of 8-11 and their accompanying guardians.

Ohter popular attractions nearby include Victoria and Albert Museum, Kensington Palace, Chelsea Physic Gardens and Hyde Park.
