Vinopolis is a gallery and a museum dedicated to wine and is often called a city of wine because of its large wine collection. Vinopolis is the brain child of Duncan Vaughan Arbuckle, a local wine dealer, who in 1999 built high vaulted cellar rooms on a two and a half acres of 19th century railway arches.
Visitors can take an interactive audio tour of the world's wine, and learn more about the various cultures of the world that produced them. In addition, patrons can hear commentary from famous wine connoisseur like Hugh Johnson, Oz Clarke and Janice Robinson. Included in the ticket prices is five complimentary tastes, which visitors can choose from over 200 wines at tasting tables.
One can also choose to purchase a bottle at Vinopolis Vaults, a wine warehouse run by Majestic. There is also in-house shop that offers gourmet food like caviar, chocolates and a range of olive oils, and a variety of wine accessories including wine racks, glassware, books and corkscrews. Other features include simulations of a trip through the hills of Chianti on a Vespa and a tour of the Australian vineyards in a jet plane. Vinopolis also has an inhouse wine bar, tapas bar and brasserie plus refectory offering light lunches. The complex has conference facilities as well as an art gallery.
Thistle Piccadilly is located on Coventry Street and is just a five minutes walk away. The hotel is ideal for both business and leisure guests, and is situated near London's famous landmarks.
