St. James's Park is 23 hectares (58 acres) in size, which attracts many Londoners and tourists alike looking to feed the geese and ducks than inhabit the lake. There are two islands on the lake, Duck Island, named for the lake's collection of ducks, and West Island. This park has been rated as the most loved and the most favorite among the residents, due to its gorgeous scenery, small size and central location.
The park is home to the Mall, which is the setting for many ceremonial parades and national events. The park also has its own Changing of the Guards at the Horse Guards Arch daily at 11 a.m. (10 a.m. on Sundays) during the summer months.
From the park, visitors get an amazing view of Buckingham Palace, which is located immediately adjacent to the park, at the bridge over the lake. The park has its own café where visitors can enjoy snacks and as well as a children's playground. In the summers, the park is used for concerts at lunchtime and evenings.
If you feel like dining, the nearest restaurant is a Lebanese spot called Noura. Diners are welcome to sample everything from hot Lebanese sandwiches to mixed grill platters and homemade baklava in a traditional setting.
Ronnie Scotts is the nearest nightclub you can find in this area; it is 2.8 miles away and is rated as a legendary Soho nightclub featuring some of jazz's greatest names. Each night, music kicks off at 9:45 p.m. An à la carte menu is also available. The closest tube to Ronnie Scotts is Tottenham Court Road.
