The popular BBC Proms

From mid-July through mid-September, the traditional Henry Wood Promenade Concerts, first started is 1895, attract music lovers from around the globe.
 
The first night of the Proms which is one of the most famous classical music festivals in the world is broadcasted live on a giant screen in Trafalgar Square. You can hear Mozart, Shostakovich, Smetana and Dvorák performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus.

Tickets for the Proms vary depending on the individual concert, but you can get £5 tickets for standing in the seatless areas. You can get these tickets on the event day from the Royal Albert Hall ticket office for cash only. The Proms is a very popular event and so expect long lines to get tickets.
