Wimbledon tennis started off as a garden party in 1877, with an audience of a few hundred. Now, the event is so popular that at times the seats have to be balloted. Thousands come from the world over to  watch Wimbledon championships each year, and it was on the most celebrated and high-profile sport events in Europe.
