Cuisine: Asian/Malay
This restaurant is fantastic! I only wish I had discovered it sooner. The décor is original and quirky and the atmosphere is cosy and friendly. The food is very creative and a taste sensation. I suffer from a dairy intolerance - they were not fazed by this (like some restaurants) and made sure that the dishes were okay for me to eat.
The food is a welcome change from standard Asian fare in London - fusion maybe, but executed well. A 2 course meal costs 20 pounds. The food is fresh, seasonal and inventive. Their beef sirloin, won tons and baked pickled salmon are worth a try. Choose from an extensive winelist, that includes a selection from 18 various countries including China and Brazil.
Kick off with the Crab and fish begedil, with morning glory kerabu, yogurt and sweet chili dip. As main course, go for the tender roast crocodile that comes with a sweet & smoky soy & black pepper sauce. Finish off with the smoked banana ice-cream, which is deliciously paired with steamed ginger cake.
The friendly staff do a really good job of creating a truly hospitable ambience, but it's surely not a place for business meetings.
