Cigala was a 2001 Moet And Chandon Restaurant Award Nominee. They have very interesting starters that include skewers of kidney, bacon and mushrooms rolled in herbs; fritos variados, a selection of vegetables deep-fried in a thin batter not forgetting sopa de picadillo, a chicken broth with rice.
Main courses include cocido Madrile-o, poached meats with white beans and cabbage; char-grilled lamb chops with chickpea, onions and quince alioli. You can expect to pay around £30 per person including drinks.
Cigala restaurant has a faithful following, and the secret behind the following is perfectly fresh ingredients combined in a modern uncluttered way. The restaurant atmosphere reflects this and it seems like an ideal place to relax and unwind. The servers are attentive and courteous. Enjoy a chilled Rioja downstairs at the matador scarlet tapas bar that engulfs you in its warmth.
