Taxicab

Travelers only need to stand on the side of the road to flag down a taxicab, also referred to as black cabs, if its yellow light is on. They are safe and give travelers good door to door service. They all have standard rates, and all drivers and vehicles are licensed to carry passengers. Drivers must go through rigourous testing before being licensed, which includes learning the layout of the city.

Compared to these, the minicabs cannot be stopped on the road. You have to call them on the phone or rent them at the operator's base.

Do not get into unlicensed cabs, which are common in areas like Hoxton and Brixton. You may call 0207 222 1234 to check on an operators license.
