Walk the city in order to fully enjoy its sights. It is a walker friendly city. I'm specially fascinated by the British Museum and its collection of drawings from Maria Sybilla Merian. Ethnic food restaurants are wonderful too. On this trip I particularly enjoyed Peter Pan at Kensington Gardens. A fantastic production. Harrods Food Court is sublime.

The Holland Inn Hotel is very close to tube, overground rail and bus stops which makes it ideal. You also have Westfields for shopping up the road and 15 min walk away towards Kensington, you have Holland Park. This park is lovely, has an active ecology centre which runs events for adults and children, a restaurant, a cafe, an art gallery as well as sports field and in the Summer hosts Opera Holland Park, a renowned national opera event.

Great place to stay if you like the tube and parliment buildings and surrounding area. Access is great to many great sites in London and the view from the room is great.
-
Use the bus as well as the tube it is a good opportunity to see London and it is just as convenient.

Don't miss the London Eye and its partner Thames cruise. Absolutely don't miss a visit to the Tower of London and make to connect to a Yeoman Warder (Beefeater) tour. They're free and very special.
-
Buy a pay as you go Oyster card to travel on underground and buses instead of travel cards, works out so much cheaper and less hassle.
-
Buy the day pass if you plan on visiting some of the standard tourist spots in the city.
-
Visit Primark for shopping. Damn cheap!
-
Buy tickets for musicals the same day as you want to go. You might get pretty good prices.

There's such a lot to do in London. Whatever you need, it's worth checking with the staff first as it saves time. eg.booking a show.
