London Walks are an excellent way to see lesser-experienced parts of the city with knowledgeable and entertaining guides. Most of the seats at the National Theatre are 10 pounds if you want an affordable evening out--with free live music in the lounge beforehand. Don't miss Covent Garden on Saturdays, or the National Portrait Gallery.

Walk eveywhere to get a true sense of the place.

Try and stay outside of London - I have yet to find a hotel, at any budget, where I felt "that was worth it...." By contrast I have stayed in may country hotels and had some great times. I think we should boycott the London hotel industry until they either bring their standards up to the prices they charge, or drop their prices to the stndard of the stay their guests experience.

Beware of buying theatre tickets with "re-sellers", 'cause they charge you as if you were seated up-front, and the reality is on the last rows. We enjoyed the city very much, the location of the hotel let you access the subway within walking distance. We "combed" the city by bus and subway.

Use Dot to dot airport transfer service if visiting London. It is much cheaper than taxi and you don't need to carry the luggage up and down the stairs of the underground. I believe the web site is www.dot2.com
