London is a great city, but it has some of the worst and most expensive hotels in the wetern world

We have visited London every year for four years. Wonderful city and great people. The most outstanding feature are the cabs. Greatest cab system in the world - knowledgeable, friendly, honest, and EVERYWHERE. One need never fear traveling around London at night and getting lost. There is always a cab within a few minutes. Check out a few sites on the south bank (Southwark) like "Winston Churchill's War Experience" - quite unusual and not well known. After all, the blitz and wartime London defined the nation in its greatest hour of peril. Eat as many meals as you can in pubs - that is where you see and meet the people. "There'll always be an England."

We took 2 day trips. The trip to the Cotswolds was great! We all enjoyed the Ceremony of the Keys at the Tower of London. If your looking for a good "american" breakfast, Tom's kitchen is great. The Lion King was amazing- and we had seen it 2 times before! Bring extra luggage space for shopping!!

Take your time with London and don't try to see everything. You will never see everything and if you hurry you won't experience anything! A river tour is a good way to see a lot without wearing yourself out and if you have a good guide their love of London will rub off on you.

Buy The all day Underground/Bus passes and get around that way, it is cheap, fun and really quite easy. You need to stay in London at least four full days to get the feel of the city.

Walk the city in order to fully enjoy its sights. It is a walker friendly city. I'm specially fascinated by the British Museum and its collection of drawings from Maria Sybilla Merian. Ethnic food restaurants are wonderful too. On this trip I particularly enjoyed Peter Pan at Kensington Gardens. A fantastic production. Harrods Food Court is sublime.

The Holland Inn Hotel is very close to tube, overground rail and bus stops which makes it ideal. You also have Westfields for shopping up the road and 15 min walk away towards Kensington, you have Holland Park. This park is lovely, has an active ecology centre which runs events for adults and children, a restaurant, a cafe, an art gallery as well as sports field and in the Summer hosts Opera Holland Park, a renowned national opera event.

Great place to stay if you like the tube and parliment buildings and surrounding area. Access is great to many great sites in London and the view from the room is great.
